Join me in my studio Thursday August 20, 6-9pm to learn all about collagraphs.
What is a collagraph? Using a plate - usually matte board, cardboard or tetrapak - to glue different textures or peel away sections to create areas for ink to sit in or on top of. Plates can be inked up intaglio style ( pushing ink into grooves) or relief ( sitting on top of the plate) and can also be used to emboss paper.
We’ll discuss different ways to create a collagraph. For the purposes of this class we’ll be exploring Tetrapak ( food grade cardboard with a inside shiny coating) for our plates. We’ll use a couple different tools to create imagery or textural patterns. Our plates can be inked up using any of the methods mentioned above and printed using a portable printing press that lives in the studio.
Every month on a Thursday evening I will host a class with varied art processes in rotation. Most will center on printmaking
Note : I’m immunocompromised and will ask folks to mask if there are more than 2 people that join this studio. Please bring a mask, I will have extras if you forget. If this makes you uncomfortable then I ask that you choose a different instructor. Thank you!
I reserve the right to cancel this class if there aren’t at least 2 people who sign up.
I will send you a follow up email with further instructions the week of the workshop
